Shooting Stars striker, Akombo Ukeyima
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan recorded another home win on Wednesday following their 1-0 win over Gateway FC of Abeokuta in a south-west derby played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
Shooting Stars striker, Akombo Ukeyima, converted a Junior Ayobami free kick in the 33rd minute to score the only goal of the match.
It was a good game that saw a large number of supporters of clubs watch the encounter.
Speaking after the match, 3SC coach, Edith Agoye, said he was satisfied with the performance of his boys, though they wasted a lot of chances.
“We expected a good game from Gateway and our readiness earned us the maximum points. We knew three points were at stake and we are happy about the result because our promotion ticket will be guaranteed when we continue to win our home game.”
Meanwhile, Gateway FC coach, Akeem Busari, said the high quality game was expected as both teams gave a good account of themselves but 3SC bagged the maximum points.
“This is a very good game from both teams, we didn’t prepare to lose here in Ibadan but that is football. If we had capitalised on our chances, the result would have been different. The match was really an open derby,” Busari said.
