The Nigeria National League (NNL) has begun inspecting stadium facilities for the 2025/2026 edition as part of the move to guarantee a smooth start to the new season, expected to kick off on Saturday, 8th November 2025.
While each of the 36 teams have been duly communicated to ensure they submit their choice of venue(s) by Sunday, October 13, 2025, to meet the required standards and put on alert when the inspection team will visit their proposed home venue, the league body has insisted that any facility that falls short of the standard will not be approved for the hosting of matches.
The clubs were also reminded to complete registration formalities and club licensing procedures by October 24, 2025, to ensure players’ eligibility for the new season.
The chief operating officer (COO) of the League, Danlami Alanana, highlighted the crucial role of quality venues in ensuring a smooth-running season. He stressed that standard pitches are essential for the league’s success urging clubs to prioritise upgrading their facilities to meet the league’s requirements.
He said, “We honestly kick against poor pitches, which lowers our quality and may be injurious to the players, aside from not allowing free flow of the game.
“We are a professional league and clubs must imbibe acceptable pitches for the good of the game.”
