Yobe Desert Stars Head Coach, Ibrahim Mohammed Sanni has lamented his team’s missed scoring chances in their Super 8 play-offs opening match against Barau FC on Saturday at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
With the draw, the highly tense and technical Northern Conference group is left wide open, irrespective of the outcome of the group’s second match between Wikki Tourists and Doma United.
Despite their late arrival at the match venue for the promotion play-offs, Yobe Desert Stars, who had to contend with fatigue during the crucial Northern Conference group opening fixture, stood their ground firmly with a thrilling rendition of an enthralling football display.
Coach Ibrahim Sanni said while speaking at a post-match conference, “I really appreciate the efforts of my players in the game despite the obvious fatigue that was caused by our late arrival to Asaba.
“We’re supposed to play in the evening today but we had to play in the morning. But despite the fatigue, the boys still showed that, yes, they are ready for it; that they are ready to compete.
“I believe that with this type of determination, the way they played today, definitely this time around, we’re going to get promotion.
“Well, we created a lot of chances, but unfortunately, we weren’t that clinical in the final third.
“We hope to work on those lapses going into our next game.”
