‘Nothing is over’, Gabriel Jesus bullish over Arsenal’s title hopes despite Saints draw

Arsenal striker, Gabriel Jesus, has not given up hope in the Premier League title race, despite the Gunners drawing their third consecutive game against Southampton on Friday.

Arsenal managed to secure a 3-3 draw against the bottom side of the Premier League, with Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka scoring late goals to secure a comeback draw. However, Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table has been cut to just five points, and they have played two more games than Manchester City, whom they will face on Wednesday at the Etihad.

Despite this, Jesus believes that Arsenal’s fate is still in their hands, and he remains optimistic about their chances in the title race.

“We don’t want to come here and talk negative because we are very positive. The season we are doing is amazing,” Jesus told Sky Sports after the game.

“It’s the Premier League. It’s not easy, it’s tough. You compete against tough teams like Southampton. They come, try to defend well and then counter-attack.

“We conceded an early goal that killed our plan but I think apart from that, we played really good, we responded really well with the crowd. Now is the difficult moment. We are putting ourselves in some difficult moments in the games but it’s time now to stick together.

“We still have a lot of things to do this season. Nothing is over. We are still five points clear. They have two games in hand. If we want to be champions we have to go there and win the game, that’s all.”

Arsenal will need a response when they travel to Manchester on Wednesday for the biggest game of the season, knowing a victory would flip the narrative and hand control back to the Gunners as they approach the climax of the campaign.
