Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi builds modern dressing room for college

Super Eagles and Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi has built a modern dressing room for Sheikh Abdulkadir College the school where he was discovered in Ilorin, Kwara state.

Awoniyi also renovated the pavilion of the school to give back to the community that supported him.

Coach Mustapha Olokode, chairman of the organizing committee for Awoniyi’s sponsored football tournament, “Never Stop Dreaming Cup 2023,” said the dressing room is just one of many gestures to come for the college. Olokode also hinted at Awoniyi’s plans to install artificial grass on the pitch in the next phase of his support for the college.

Mr. Joshua Yisa, the representative from the Kwara Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development and the State Coordinator for School Sports, commended Awoniyi for his intervention and the tournament’s idea. He also praised the Nottingham Forest striker for building modern dressing rooms, toilets, and offices at the college where the competition is taking place.

In the opening game of the 26-team format competition, Awoniyi’s Football Academy, Unicorn FA, defeated Sunshine 2-0. The tournament, which is in a 26-team format, is expected to attract no less than 500 players from across the state.

The eventual winner will receive a cash prize of N1 million, the runners-up will receive N700,000, and the third-place winner will receive N500,000.

Outstanding players at the end of the tournament are also expected to receive numerous prizes, including cash and football equipment.
