NPFL: Plateau Utd begin title defence against Nasarawa

 

Defending champions, Plateau United will begin the defence of their Nigeria Professional Football League title against Nasarawa United when the season starts on January 14.

Following the draws made in Kano on Sunday, Katsina United will host Kano Pillars in another epic northern derby on the opening game of the new NPFL season

Plateau United made history last season when they won the NPFL crown for the first time.

Last season, Pillars and Katsina United have reignited a long drawn rivalry in the premier league.

Pillars won at home last term, before Katsina United avenged the defeat in Katsina.

In other opening day fixtures, Rivers United will be home to El Kanemi Warriors, Kwara United against Niger Tornadoes, Akwa United versus Enugu Rangers and Lobi Stars square up against Enyimba in Makurdi.

The first week action will also see FC Ifeanyiubah clash with newly promoted Yobe Desert Stars in Nnewi, newly promoted Heartland host Sunshine Stars and Abia Warriors take on MFM FC in Umuahia.
