NSF: Imo to face Oyo in women’s handball event

Team Imo will this today slug it out with Team Oyo in the women’s handball event of the ongoing 2024 National Sports Festival in Ogun State.

Team Imo tagged Imo Grasshoppers will strive to start the Handball event with a win knowing that this will put them in good stead in the competition and also boost their chances of ending the Handball event with a medal.

Team players and officials have been prepped up for the task ahead and they are ready to give their all for the Eastern Heartland.

The game comes up at the Alake Sports Centre, Abeokuta by 4:30pm.

In other games also fixed for today, Team Ogun will face Team Kogi in the first game by 9:00am while Team Edo will combat Team Kano in other fixtures in the Women’s handball event by 1:30pm.

Meanwhile, Teams Lagos and Niger States had to really dig deep to earn victories on Day 1 of the Men’s Handball event at the National Sports Festival 2025 ongoing in Ogun State tagged Gateway Games 2025 played yesterday.

Team Niger, despite the turnovers and missed chances, defeated a well drilled Team Kano 25-24 in a pulsating match in the men category at the Alake Sports Center.

For Team Lagos, they met a brick wall in Team Sokoto but also won 25-24 .

Team Edo earned a 10-0 victory and the maximum points after the walked over Team Enugu who arrived late for the match.

Before the commencement of the day’s matches, the teams observed a minute silence for the repose of the Late Coach Sylvanus Audu of Kano State. The late Coach Audu who was also known as Coach Kura died last week Tuesday following a brief ailment.
