The Premier League is back again (after the short intermission from the international break) and so are my predictions.
Having managed to call five correct results from Match Day three, I am back for another crack at this week’s predictions.
Here are my Premier League Match Day four predictions.
MANCHESTER CITY V LIVERPOOL
You don’t get a better rousing welcome to Premier League football – after the international break – than this. Entertainment nonstop is guaranteed in this fixture, and the attacking football that will be on show is what really excites fans and neutrals about this game.
Having struggled to come out with a win last time out at Bournemouth, Pep Guardiola will be hoping his side travel to Feyenoord for their first Champions League fixture on the back of a league triumph over Liverpool. But, it would be really interesting to see how Man City stop a Jurgen Klopp side that drew 1-1 at the Ethihads in this same fixture last season and are always outstanding against the top six sides in the league recently.
City haven’t been too convincing so far in the season, despite their massive summer spending. I really see Liverpool getting something from this clash on Saturday.
MY PREDICTION: Man City 2-2 Liverpool
ARSENAL V BOURNEMOUTH
Things haven’t been quite rosy with Arsene Wenger and Arsenal – after having to disperse for the international break on the back of a 4-0 humiliating defeat at the hands of Liverpool, and the Sanchez saga hasn’t help situations. But Alexis is staying until January at least, and it would be riveting to see how this affects Arsenal’s season.
Alexis Sanchez is someone that loves to play the game, and I see him quickly getting over all transfer fuss and focus on the football. But Bournemouth are no pushovers, having almost secured a point against Man City last time out. Arsenal wouldn’t want to drop points at home(after the Liverpool humiliation), meanwhile, Bournemouth are not a side that will score many goals away from home, and might have to wait until next Match Day for their first point(s) this season.
MY PREDICTION: Arsenal 2-0 Bournemouth
BRIGHTON V WEST BROM
Having secured a point at Watford last time out, Chris Hughton will be hoping his side build on that against Tony Pulis’ West Brom this weekend. But Brighton will have to fight hard to ensure a win over an opponent that hasn’t lost a game this season.
MY PREDICTION: Brighton 1-1 West From
EVERTON V SPURS
This is going to be another intriguing match to see: as both sides are fashioned to attack. Spurs haven’t been impressive so far in the season, but their only win out of their three games – came from an away fixture. But, Everton are a much improved side to Newcastle that lost to Spurs on the opening fixture of the season. This one is difficult to call. I will just settle for stalemate in this one.
MY PREDICTION: Everton 1-1 Spurs
LEICESTER V CHELSEA
After their opening day 3-2 home defeat to Burnley, it has been two wins on the bounce for Chelsea, and they would want to maintain the momentum when they visit Craig Shakespeare’s side at the King Power Stadium. But, Leicester’s only win so far came at home against Brighton. And they would be hoping to build on that conviction when the reigning league champions visit. I see Chelsea having too much for the home side in this one, though.
MY PREDICTION: Leicester 1-2 Chelsea
SOUTHAMPTON V WATFORD
Southampton are another side that are yet to taste defeat this season, and if what Watford showed at home against Brighton last time out is anything to go by, I see Southampton triumphing in this clash.
MY PREDICTION: Southampton 2-1 Watford
STOKE CITY V MANCHESTER UNITED
It is a well known fact that: teams hardly pick wins at Stoke. And to emphasize that fact, Manutd haven’t won a Premier League match at The bet365 Stadium since 2013. Bizarre. But, José Mourinho would be looking to change that with his team that have defeated everything that came their way so far in the season. It’s going to be a difficult match for Manchester United, but I see them picking a win there for the first time in four years – by the skin of their teeth.
MY PREDICTION: Stoke 1-2 Manutd
BURNLEY V CRYSTAL PALACE
Crystal Palace have been really disappointing so far, losing all three league matches they have played. Frank de Boer doesn’t have the kind of players that fits into his philosophy of playing from the back and trying to gain possession always – playing on the ground. But with direct players like Christian Benteke, Wilfred Zaha and Andros Townsend the core players in the team, it would be difficult to Change Crystal Palace’s direct pattern overnight.
Burnley don’t have issue with their football, and picked a point at Spurs last time out. So I am going for a straight Burnley win here. Because aside Palace struggling to adapt to their new style of play under their new boss, they are struggling to score goals.
MY PREDICTION: Burnley 2-1 Crystal Palace
SWANSEA V NEWCASTLE
Swansea’s only defeat so far was at home. And that was because they played against the best team in the league so far Manchester United. Swansea have picked four points from their other two fixtures away from home, and I expect them to just secure their first win at home against Newcastle.
MY PREDICTION: Swansea 1-0 Newcastle
WEST HAM V HUDDERSFIELD
West Ham are another side struggling so far this season, but understandably, they are yet to play any match in front of their home fans: with all their three fixtures coming away from home. Huddersfield surprisingly are yet to lose a game in the league at the moment, having played Southampton (home), Newcastle (home) and Crystal Palace(away). But it would be interesting to see how this one pans out. Even though I expect West Ham to narrowly win this.
MY PREDICTION: West Ham 1-0 Huddersfield
