Ogunbameru wins IGC Captain, Lady Captain’s Day tournament

A staff of University College Hospital (UCH) and a member of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Lekan Ogunbameru on Saturday won the Captain and Lady Captain’s day inaugural tournament held at IGC, Onireke, Ibadan.

The tournament which was organised to to user in the new executive of the Club led by Mr Ola Ibironke and the Lady Captain, Mrs Mary Okunola saw over 250 golfers across the country participating.

Ogunbameru, who is playing 4 handicap score the number number of 70 Net to claim winner of the tournament.

Speaking, Ogunbameru expressed his joy saying this is one of his best trophy and he promised to retain Tiger Open scheduled for December this year.

He said “I feel so much excited and all thanks to God and my Caddy likewise my wife for given the opportunity to come, play and win this tournament.

“When you talk about golf, you cannot without caddy, you have to plan together and know what you want to do on the golf course and plan ahead of playing a better shot.

“My secret is a game management, you need game management in playing good golf. My caddy and I plan agree on game management and this is the result. My target now is Tiger Open coming up in December. I will like to defend my title once again been a former champion.”

Meanwhile, the Captain of the Club, Mr Ola Ibironke said his team will deliver and promised to work on the achievement of his predecessor with help of his member of his executives.

He said “My being the 24th Captain of IGC, to me is ordained by God. It’s part of what I’m meant to fulfill in life because I never wanted to play golf  talk less of becoming the Captain. As a fact, I was forced to join the Club by my very good friend, Prince Bayo Adeleke.

“My team, the new executive committee I trust we have made the right choices by sticking together and sticking up for each other. We have started on a good note. Let the beats go on.”

Also, the Lady Captain, Mrs Mary Okunola thanked the sponsors of the tournament and the Ladies section of the Club for the kind gesture.
