Oladipo Alayande School of Science dominates Karim Adeyemi Foundation awards

Three schools from Ibadan, namely Oladipo Alayande School of Science, St. Louis Grammar School, and Queens School Apata, triumphed in the Karim Adeyemi Foundation’s second annual International Day of Sports for Development and Peace (IDSDP) Essay Competition.

This year’s edition saw a significant expansion compared to the previous one, which awarded prizes to only the top three students.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Borussia Dortmund forward and recent UEFA Champions League finalist, Karim Adeyemi, the Foundation awarded a total of Eight hundred thousand naira (N800,000) to the top ten students from this year’s competition.

Oladipo Alayande School of Science impressively secured seven out of these ten awards.

Karim Adeyemi Foundation IDSDP Awards is a unique initiative celebrating the unifying power of sports and its pivotal role in promoting peace and inclusivity through an annual essay competition among public secondary schools in Oyo state.

The 2024 CBT competition drew participants from 7 schools: Oladipo Alayande School of Science, St. Louis Grammar School, Government College Ibadan, Queens School Apata, Ode Aje Ajibola Aremo High School, Loyola College Ibadan, and Ikolaba High School.

In collaboration with Polaris Bank, the foundation continued its tradition of opening accounts for the beneficiaries, with scholarships being deposited into these accounts co-signed by their parents, KAF President Abiodun Adeyemi also ensured all participating students received tokens and goody bags.

Dignitaries present at this year’s award ceremony included Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, and Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Student Affairs, Tobi Oyewunmi, among others.

Speaking at the event, KAF Chief Operations Officer OlaOlu Adedayo expressed satisfaction at the impact the event is creating among public secondary schools in Oyo state while promising that the Foundation will not rest on her oars to make the next edition even bigger.
