Super Falcons captain, Asisat Oshoala on Tuesday won the African Women’s Footballer of the Year award for the fourth time after beating Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa and Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout.
The Barcelona star was named the winner at the Confederation of African Football’s awards Gala in the Egyptian city of Hurghada and she has now joined the likes of Mercy Akide, Perpetua Nkwocha and Cynthia Uwak, who have won won the continental women’s gong for the Nigeria.
Oshoala, who scored in FC Barcelona Women’s Champions League final defeat to Lyon, was also delighted to be recognised.
“Grateful to be African Women’s Player of the year for the fourth time,” she wrote on Twitter.
“(I) thank God, my family, friends and fans for the support. Big shoutout to my club, my management, team mates at both national team and club level and of course thanks to @CAF_Online for the opportunity.”
