Osimhen to undergo more tests after head injury

Victor Osimhen will now have to undergo extensive tests after he fainted following a head injury against Atalanta in a Serie A clash Sunday.

The Napoli striker blacked out after he hit the back of his head on the ground after a clash with Cristian Romero of Atalanta, he was placed on oxygen in the ambulance but he regained consciousness on the way to hospital.

The initial diagnosis is that he suffered a head trauma and he spent Sunday night in the hospital in Bergamo.

The club however disclosed that a test was carried out on the Forward, but they are still waiting for final results and he will remain in Hospital for close observation.

Napoli released a Statement on their website saying “Osimhen suffered an injury to his head in the final minutes of Napoli’s match at Atalanta. Following the game, he underwent medical tests but they did not yield a conclusive result.

“The player will remain in Bergamo until tomorrow, under the observation of Raffaele Canonico, who leads the medical team at Napoli.”

Osimhen will most likely not be available for selection for his team’s next game Sunday at home against Benevento. Napoli have slipped to seventh on the table.

His short time in Italy following a record summer transfer from French Ligue 1 side Lille has been plagued by misfortunes.

He suffered a shoulder injury on international duty, contacted Coronavirus and the goals have not been flowing as widely expected.
