In a bid to promote the game of golf at CrossGreek Golf Course, Ilado-Akure is hosting this weekend over 200 golfer across the country in one-day Golf kitty tagged ‘Victory Golf Kitty’.
The tournament was conceptualised by members of the club to honour one of their members alongside some birthday celebrants.
Founder of the club, Mr Shola Abidakun said it was necessary to celebrate one of their own who just emerged as the Local Government Chairman of the Akoko North west area, Otunba Ayo Akande.
He said Otunba Akande is a member of the club and ever since he joined the club he has been contributing to the development of the club saying “It is important to honour one of our own. He’s also a member of Ikeja Golf Club and he has been using his wealth of experience to promote the game here at CrossGreek Golf Course, Ilado-Akure.
“Also, through the kitty, we will be celebrating Honourable Omotayo Abidakun, Dr Olu Atunramu and Miss Olorungbohunmi Oni who their birthday fall for this weekend.
Abidakun revealed why he built the course at Akure stating that having traveled far and wide to enjoy the game of golf, where he meet several notable golfers in the country and abroad, he needs to bring the experience back home.
“We want to explore the tourism potential of this place (CrossGreek Golf Course), to bring goodwill and also to enjoy the game of golf in all ramification. We started the building the course in 2018 and its 9 hole all Green Golf Course, situated at Ilado-Akure in Ondo State.

“We are expecting over 200 golfers across the country for the one-day kitty. We have people coming from Tiger Golf Club, Ibadan Golf Club, Abeokuta Golf Club and several notable golfers.
