Oxlade-Chamberlain turns down Chelsea and wants Liverpool

Oxlade-Chamberlain has turned down the chance to join Chelsea.

According to ‘Sky Sports’, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected the chance to join Premier League Champions Chelsea.

Reports on Monday confirmed that Arsenal and Chelsea had agreed a fee in the region of £35m for the England international.

However, the mentioned source understands that Oxlade-Chamberlain would prefer a move to Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The main reason for the 24-year-old’s decision is that he feels there are more opportunities to play a central role at Anfield than at Chelsea.

Antonio Conte’s side have been looking for wing-backs all summer and now look set to miss out on another key transfer target, something that will not please the Blues boss.

Oxlade-Chamberlain is entering the final year of his Gunners contract and is odds-on to leave the club before the window slams shut on Thursday evening.

If Liverpool table a bid similar to Chelsea’s, a deal is almost certain to be completed.
