A member of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC), Evelyn Oyome last Sunday won the 23rd Benin Ladies Open Golf Championship held at the Benin Club Golf Course, Benin City.
Oyome, a member of Ikoyi Club 1938 finished with 79 gross on day one of the tournament and another 86 gross on day two totaling 165 gross.
Her exploits eventually earned her the overall best lady golfer’s award of the tournament.
Oyome, while speaking with Tribunesport lauded Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS), for organising a befitting tournament saying the standard of the competition was high.
Rachael Danjumah, a woman police inspector from IBB Club, Abuja, finished as runner up with 167 gross, while Valentina Manteau-Ogieva salvaged the day for the host club, Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) as she finished third with 169 gross.
Also, E. Osinachi with 72 net won the best day one net award, while the host Lady Captain, Deaconess Mabel Osazuwa with 76 net won the best day two net award.
Also, Vice President South-South zone of the Ladies Golfers Association of Nigeria (LGAN), Debbie Otabor carded 89 gross on day one to emerge best, while matriarch of the BCGS Ladies Division, Chief (Mrs) Gloria Ihonvbere won the day two best gross award with 88 gross.
Similarly, Chief M. Azugbene with 72 net beat the duo of Ralph Irorere and O. Onwuzuruike who played 76 net respectively to win the handicap 0-18 BCGS men’s cadre, just as Osaze Iyare emerged the best gross in the category with 81 gross.
Dr Mojeed Momoh 80 net earned him victory over the likes of Peter Osagiede (85 net) and Chief Lucky Osawaru (87 net) in the handicap 19-28 BCGS men’s event.
