Kano pillars para-soccer team on Sunday defeated their Lagos counterparts 9-1 to qualify for the semifinal of the ongoing para-soccer at the ongoing Para-Sports Games in Abuja
The match was played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.
Ibrahim Hashim of Kano Pillars scored the first goal in the fifth minute, 13th minute and 34th minute.
Abubakar Abdullahi of the Lagos team scored in the 40th minute from close range following a brilliant cross.
Kano pillars` Umar Dahiru scored the third goal in the 30th minute while Hashim scored the fifth goal in the 44th minute.
The Lagos team fought hard but was unable to add to their goal tally. The first half of the match ended 5-1.On the resumption of the second half,
On resumption for the second half, pillars continued from where they stopped, Abba Jamil recorded the sixth and seventh goals in the 50th minute and 65th minute.
Speaking after the match, Ibrahim Musa, Pillars coach said his team was winning because of the good players in the team.
“I commend my players they fought well in the game. My next game is 4 pm on Monday against the best losers.
“It could be Plateau, Bauchi or Lagos I will also beat them with the same margin that I beat both Sokoto and Lagos.
“My confidence is in my team winning all subsequent matches to lift the trophy,” he said.
In another quarter-final match, Kaduna defeated Bauchi 6-2 and FCT beat Plateau 2-0 to qualify for the seminal final.
Nine states are participating in the Para-soccer competition. They are Kwara, Lagos, FCT, Bauchi, Kano, Sokoto, kaduna, Jigawa and Plateau.
A total of 15 sporting events are featured in the second edition of the Para-Sports Games.
