Itesiwaju FC and Itesiwaju Rangers have qualified for the semi-final of this year’s edition of the Peller Unity Cup.
In the first quarter-final, Itesiwaju FC defeated Irepo FC 4-2 via penalties at the Ago-Are Township Stadium on Friday, while Itesiwaju Rangers beat Atisbo Royal 2-0 in the second quarter-final decided at the Ekunle High School, Iseyin, on Saturday.
The tournament features 20 teams from the 10 local government areas that constitute the Oke Ogun area of Oyo State.
According to the initiator of the tournament, Honourable Shina Peller, representing lseyin/ltesiwaju/ Kajola/lwajowa federal constituency said the tournament was organised to foster unity among the youth in the Oke-Ogun region and to empower them apart from helping in the discovery of hidden soccer talents in the area.

Peller stated that “Football, being a universal language that everyone understands, helps connect people together irrespective of tribal, political, or religious belief. It helps to unite people. This is what the PUC stands for; it is a unifying tool for the people of Oke Ogun,” he said.
Speaking after the match in Iseyin, Itesiwaju Rangers handler, Okesola Bolaji, said he was happy with the outcome of the game, saying their target remains how to win the tournament as he lauded the efforts of his players so far.
Meanwhile, ex-international, Femi Opabunmi, who is an Ambassador of the tournament has promised the best player of the tournament a trophy.
