Pep Guardiola accepts he could be axed if he can’t make Manchester City work

Spaniard has one of the best reputations in the world… but heavy defeat at Leicester means City have won only four of their last 15 games in all competitions

PEP GUARDIOLA accepts he will be in trouble unless he can turn around Manchester City’s results quickly.

The heavy defeat at Leicester means City have won only four of their last 15 games in all competitions.

Ex Barcelona chief Guardiola arrived at the Etihad with a reputation as the greatest manager in the world.

Yet he has found English football difficult and admits he is under pressure to get victories like any other boss.

Guardiola’s damning assessment of their form since the beginning of January was ‘not good enough’.

He said: “Long term projects don’t exist in football. You have to win immediately. If you don’t win you will be in trouble.

“Then another guy has to be in charge because you have to win.

“Of course the club has to prepare in the long term, but the coaches, the managers, they have to win, or something is going to happen.

“And of course change the results we have had in the last month or so. They are not good enough for Manchester City.

“I have to accept the results have not gone well. We didn’t win the last four home games. We scored four goals.

“I have to accept we didn’t do well. We have to improve what I believe, not change what I believe. ”

Guardiola has come under fire from pundits over his insistence on trying to play out from the back.

He added: “When it doesn’t work, you have to be strong. I have to accept the opinions of former players, the media, the fans because we didn’t win.

“But I wish and hope they will give me a little more time.”
