Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye and his coach, Kennedy Boboye.
Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Plateau United have jettisoned a proposed training camp in Ghana and will instead train in Abuja prior to the kick-off of the new season, officials have told SCORENigeria.
Coach Kennedy Boboye said: “We decided to camp in Abuja to enable the team to have focus and to give the boys a real sense of belonging.
“This is the last phase of our camping before our first league match against Nasarawa United.
“We can no longer go to Ghana as earlier planned because we have limited time ahead of the opening match of the league and we need time to prepare for the first league match of the season.”
He added, “Logistics are in place for the team to now camp in Abuja.
“Hopefully, the team will touch down in Abuja this weekend, and as I speak to you I am on way back to Jos from my base in Port Harcourt
“It is time for work, Christmas is over and as defending champions, we need to start preparations in time as the boys are to resume today.”
