Pogba yearning for Zinedine Zidane

Paul Pogba has always dreamed of playing one day under his footballing hero Zinedine Zidane, people close to the midfielder have stated.

Reports continue to circulate the legendary France World Cup winner is the leading name in the frame if bosses at Manchester United are forced to make a change and dispense with Jose Mourinho’s services in the coming weeks.

The Red Devils boss certainly needs a win at Burnley this Sunday to get his squad back on track following two defeats from their opening three Premier League games.

A defeat at Turf Moor could even see the Manchester giants sat in the relegation zone, which will surely only increase the calls in some quarters that a change at the top is required.

French media have continued to assert Zidane is interested in taking on the Old Trafford hot seat, having left Real Madrid this summer after leading the Spanish giants to three successive Champions League trophies.

Zidane attempted to bring Pogba to the Bernabeu but the 25-year-old felt he had unfinished business when he returned to the Theatre of Dreams from Juventus for a then world-record £89m sum in 2016.

Barcelona remain interested in signing the playmaker, who is believed to have had a strained relationship with Mourinho over the last 12 months.

Zidane, however, remains an iconic figure for Pogba, with sources close to the player hinting one of his footballing ambitions is to still play under his idol.
