Ramos was furious with teammate after Espanyol defeat

Real Madrid slumped to their fifth La Liga defeat of the season against Espanyol, leaving Sergio Ramos reportedly furious with one of his teammates.

The defending Spanish champions are a massive 14 points adrift of league leaders Barcelona, while playing a game more than their fierce rivals.

Zinedine Zidane’s side failed to beat Espanyol on Monday night with Gerard Moreno netting in the dying stages of the game to bag all three points.

Cristiano Ronaldo was rested with the Champions League second leg against Paris Saint-Germain in mind.

So Zidane resorted to playing Ramos as a makeshift striker near the end of the fixture in search of a goal, but to no prevail.

Naturally, the Real Madrid camp weren’t happy including the skipper who was angry with Isco.

The Spanish midfielder was dragged off in the 69th minute for Karim Benzema, and he took his time to leave the pitch.

According to reports from Daily Mail, Ramos wasn’t happy with his actions who took 45 seconds to get replaced.

Following the game, Zidane spoke about his decision to send Ramos up front while saying his team didn’t deserve to win or draw.

“When there’s not long left and it’s 0-0 anything can happen. We always look to go for the win and today we didn’t get it. They scored a goal in the last minute, but there’s no need for us to go over it again. We didn’t deserve to win or lose, he said via BBC.

“We were lacking a little bit in all departments. It’s a defeat that hurts and it’s a poor result. I feel sorry for the players.

“At times, there’s no understanding football. We dropped further back for some spells in the second half but you’ve got to accept these tough times. At no point in the second half did we do well,” he added.

Real Madrid entertain Getafe on the weekend before facing the French giants in the return leg at Paris.
