What Rangers did right —GM

GENERAL Manager of Rangers International, Paul Ozor says that the secret behind the club’s success was that the  team focussed more on its affairs more than the opponents.

Rangers on Sunday won the Nigeria Football Professional League scoring 63 points to end a 32-year title drought for the Enugu-based team.

“We always left matters to be settled on the pitch, we were not bothered by who is the match referee—a friend or foe-what we do on match day is very crucial from Day One of the League. We thank God for crowning our efforts.’’

He described Rangers’ turning point to two consecutive home draws.

“Clubs fear our ground a lot. They think Rangers were destined to win their home games but when we drew two home games consecutively, we knew we had to restrategise because that was four home points lost. You will notice that our head coach, Imama Amapakabo sometimes had to leave the Super Eagles’ camp, where he is on secondment, to attend to Rangers’ crucial need.’’

He also thanked the League Management Company (LMC), for bringing some of the NPFL matches live to the living room of Nigerians.

“We could see an improved transparency in officiating and sportsmanship on the part of the fans,” he said.
