Rashidi Yekini Foundation (RYF), has concluded arrangements to stage the third Rashidi Yekini Golden Boot award for highest goal scorer of the season in Nigerian league.
The event is scheduled to hold on Saturday at the media centre of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.
Anthony Okpotu of Lobi Stars of Makurdi with 19 goals emerged the Goal King of the just-ended Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) 2016/2017 season.
The home-based Super Eagles forward will take home N100,000 prize money and the plaque as winner of the Rashidi Yekini Golden Boot award courtesy of RYF.
According to the coordinator of RYF, Barrister Jubril Muhammed, Lobi Stars boss, Mr Mike Idoko will accompany Okpotu to the event.
He stated that logistics have been put in place to make the event a huge success.
“We are set for this year’s edition of the award and the awardee has confirmed that he will personally be availabe to receive the award as a mark of honour.
“We also expect top football personalities across the country at the ceremony. This award is to encourage home-based players to get reward for their effort and as well mmortalise the late football legend, Yekini for his invaluable contributions to the growth of Nigerian football,” Muhammed said.
