Real dressing room split over Pogba

Not everyone at Real Madrid is enthused about the prospect of Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba moving to the Bernabeu, according to reports in Spain.

The Frenchman is one of the top names on Zinedine Zidane’s transfer wish list this summer as he looks to overhaul Real’s squad, while Pogba himself is eager to link up with his idol in Spain.

After an excellent run of form when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer arrived at Old Trafford, Pogba’s form under the Norwegian has tailed off more recently and he is reportedly questioning just how far the club can go under Solskjaer’s guidance.

Pogba’s attitude and application has often been criticised by pundits, and axed boss Jose Mourinho, and now El Chiringuito TV report that there are similar questions being asked from Real’s players.

While the dressing room are united in the belief that another major target, Eden Hazard, is world-class and would improve the side, Pogba is held in rather less esteem.

Although Pogba has plenty of fans at Real – he won the World Cup alongside Raphael Varane just a year ago – there are ‘certain players’ who do not consider him a top player and are skeptical about his potential arrival.

Despite his form dipping in recent weeks, Pogba still has 13 goals and nine assists in the Premier League this season, earning a place in the PFA Team of the Year – the only player outside of Manchester City and Liverpool to make it in.

United still hope to keep Pogba, though could be tempted to sell if Real officially lodge a bid of £130m – a fee that would represent a big profit on the £89m they paid to Juventus three years ago.

The Frenchman is so far refusing to enter into contract talks, with his current deal expiring in 2021, though his current salary is reportedly far higher than what Real would be able to stretch to.
