Real ‘make move’ for Ajax’s Frenkie De Jong

Real Madrid have entered the race to sign Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong and will reportedly try to sign him in the January transfer window.

Diario Sport claim the European champions have made advancements for the Dutchman and see him as being a direct replacement for Luka Modric.

Madrid reportedly view the Croatian as in ‘the autumn of his career’ and want to have a replacement due to concerns his performance levels may be beginning to wane.

De Jong has most prominently been linked to Manchester City and Barcelona, for whom he said: “I’m flattered that Barca are thinking about me.”
