The lawmaker representing Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, and Oriire Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Honourable Olamijuwonlo Ayodeji Alao-Akala, has donated sporting materials worth millions of naira to football clubs in his constituency and the Ogbomoso Football Association (OFA).
The items donated include linesman flags, corner flags, referee jerseys, footballs, whistles, cards, goalpost nets, and more, to support the OFA.
Representatives for Hon. Alao-Akala, the son of the late Governor Adebayo Alao-Akala of Oyo State, included Hon. Wasiu Olukan, Hon. Wale Adeleke, Hon. Rasaq Bello, and Alhaji Love Azeez.
According to Team Ojuoloore Sports Empowerment 2024, the gesture was intended to inspire and unite the youth and football enthusiasts in the constituency, promoting teamwork, entertainment, and community spirit. The initiative aims to build a stronger and more empowered generation of Ogbomoso youth, who are enthusiastic supporters of sports.
Beneficiaries of the donated jerseys, soccer boots, and shin guards from Oriire Local Government Area included Charity FC, Iluju; Oolo FC; Oriire; and the Coaches Association Club.
In Ogbomoso South LGA, Awoye FC, Ambassadors FC, and the Ogbomoso South Coaches Association Club received support, while in Ogbomoso North LGA, Jordan FC, Tara Rovers FC, and the Ogbomoso North Coaches Association FC also benefited from the donations.
Football clubs, managers, and players, as well as the Ogbomoso Football Association, expressed their gratitude to Hon. Alao-Akala, pledging their ongoing support and commitment to representing Ogbomoso positively through sports.
The groups praised the Ojuoloore Sports Empowerment 2024 initiative as a major success, expressing confidence in Alao-Akala’s dedication to advancing sports development and further enhancing Ogbomoso’s profile through athletics.
