Rivers United players before the kick off
Players of Rivers United have staged a peaceful protest at the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt demanding for the payment of their sign-on fees for the 2014/15 season.
The players displayed placards with various inscriptions asking for the government to pay up.
‘We don’t have pension. Pay us our money’, ‘Give us what we worked for’ were some of the inscriptions.
Rivers United barely escaped relegation this past season after they finished runners-up the previous term.
