Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has described Cristiano Ronaldo as a “problem” for the Spanish giants.
Capello, who managed at the Bernabeu from 2006 through 2007, believes the Portuguese forward is not at full fitness.
Despite three goals in six games for Real, Ronaldo returned to duty late in the Spanish capital after suffering an injury in Portugal’s victorious Euro 2016 final.
“The problem for Real Madrid now is Cristiano Ronaldo,” he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero. “Because he is not well physically and is their best player.”
Real is on a four-match drawing streak, albeit still joint top of La Liga with Atletico Madrid, and Capello believes the stalling in form is due to the lack of match fitness of Ronaldo.
After the international break, Real will travel to Real Betis on October 15.
