Ronaldo out of the starting lineup despite Zidane’s approval

Finally, he will not start. Though Zidane assured the Portuguese star was ready to play, the manager has opted for a 4-4-2 formation which leaves no room for Ronaldo to face his former side.

Isco will fill in for Ronaldo. Zidane has changed his system from 4-3-3 to 4-4-2 with the remaining members of the ‘BBC’ leading the line. Real’s hopes of lifting the Super Cup rest on Bale and Benzema’s shoulders.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be on the bench, so Zidane could introduce him to the game in the second half. The French coach said his striker was ‘like in the Champions League final’, but his lack of pre-season has cost him dearly.

Ronaldo is not up to speed and his form is well below that of Isco. He has only trained three times with the rest of the team which is why he will not start in Skopje.
