Russia 2018: FIFA fines Sweden $70,000

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has fined the Swedish Football Association 70,000 Swiss francs (about $70,000) for violating media and marketing rules at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, FIFA’s press service said on Friday.

According to the press service, members of the Swedish delegation displayed unapproved commercial brands on their outfits during their round of 16 match against Switzerland, which ended 1-0 to Sweden on Tuesday.

The disciplinary committee also issued a warning to the Swedish Football Association.

Earlier, FIFA had fined the Croatian Football Federation for a similar violation.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15.
