Perisic then went from hero to villain, handling in the area to cost his side a penalty after the aid of VAR. Griezmann duly stepped up and rolled it home to gift Les Bleus the lead again.
The end-to-end nature of the game continued in the second half and Paul Pogba punished Croatia with a delightful third, curled into the left corner.

Kylian Mbappe fired home from distance, which proved to be decisive in securing the crown but Hugo Lloris howler for Juventus striker Mandzukic to pull one back.

Meanwhile, the Final was hit by pitch invaders in the 52nd minute.
Four spectators simultaneously ran on the pitch and interrupted play in global football’s showpiece match.
Dejan Lovren attempted to drag one of them to the floor as stewards ran on to the pitch to deal with the interruption.
Political protest group Pussy Riot claimed responsibility for the invasion on social media shortly after the spectators ran on the pitch.
The invaders were all dressed in the same uniform and appeared to come from the same area of the stadium.
