Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr, may have ended speculation regarding the return of goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
Also, the hope of youngster, Dele Alampasu to make the World Cup-bound squad is uncertain.
The German manager pointed out that Enyeama has been inactive for his French club, Lille SC since the start of the season.
“He is not playing anywhere, so we cannot take players who are not playing,” Rohr told reporters.
“We are working hard to have the best of our legs taken to Russia and we don’t have the luxury of naming a player that has not been playing in recent time.
“Each time we have a problem, there is always a good answer and I hope it will be the same for the World Cup.
“We currently have so many players in camp and we want to continue monitoring them. The most important thing is for them to be in best shape for the Mundial.”
It will be recalled that Enyeama last played for Lille OSC in April last year for 65 minutes against Rennes in the French Ligue 1.
Meanwhile, Alampasu who is equally not turning out for the first team of his Portuguese club is doubtful for the World Cup.
“The problem is that Enyeama is not playing much after his injury, that’s the same problem with Alampasu, he’s not playing, he cannot be ready for the competition [World Cup],” Rohr lamented.
