Moses being mobbed by team mates after opening scores against Algeria on Saturday.
Victor Moses, says he couldn’t control his emotion while celebrating goals for Nigeria.
Moses was booked for pulling off his shirt after scoring the first goal in Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Algeria in a Russia 2018 African Group 2 fixture played in Uyo.
“I am a patriot and that is why I am so emotional in the green colour,’ Moses told Tribunesport after the game.
“I don’t display such madness(pulling off jersey) when playing for my club, but I go crazy over any goal for the Eagles.”
Moses reminded Tribunesports of the hassles he went through before becoming a Nigerian international.
“The Eagles matter to me, it took almost two years to get me cleared to play for Nigeria and I remember the late Stephen Keshi telling me that I needed to step up my training sessions if I wanted to make it in African football.’’
Moses had played for England at age group level after which he was convinced on playing for Nigeria.
The Chelsea player said he was aware he would be booked after over-celebrating Saturday’s opener.
“I knew I won’t escape the yellow card but the goal was important to me. I had to win some of my fans back and also help the team to take control of the game.’’
Moses is accused of feigning injury and failed to travel to Ndola during last month’s Day 1 fixture of the qualifiers where Eagles beat home team Zambia by 2-1.
“It is not as simple as that. You don’t just tell your federation you don’t want to come because you don’t feel like. Chelsea showed medical evidence and the NFF were convinced. Anyway that is gone, it is better we now know Moses is ‘Up Eagles.”
