Spikers emerge champions of 2025 National Division 1 League

VIP Spikers Volleyball Club of Abuja have been crowned champions of the women’s category of the 2025 National Division One Volleyball League after an impressive unbeaten run that saw them dominate both phases of the competition, which ended in Abia over the weekend.

The Spikers won all 20 matches, amassing a total of 59 points, to secure automatic qualification for the 2026 Comptroller General of Customs (CGC) Volleyball Premier League.

The outstanding performance also earned the Abuja-based team several individual awards, including best middle blocker won by Precious Nwadiogor; best attacker by Gift Iwobi, while Precious Terseer emerged as the most valuable player (MVP) of the tournament.

Team manager, Abiodun Suraj, praised the players, led by captain Chilota Marvellous, for their determination and teamwork throughout the competition. He also congratulated the coaching crew, comprising multiple national champion Franscica Ikhiede and John Pada, for making history with the team.

Suraj highlighted the team’s strategy of combining youthful energy with experience, describing it as the key to their success.

He said, “The players have been exceptional from start to finish, showing real character, discipline and hunger to win every single match. This title is a reward for their hard work.

“Our philosophy is to invest in young players and give them a platform to grow. We blended youth with experience, and that balance paid off perfectly.”

Suraj also expressed gratitude to the club’s sponsors for their unwavering support since the team’s inception just five months ago.

“We appreciate our sponsors for believing in us. Their support and logistics made this journey possible, and we are proud to repay that faith with a championship,” the manager added.
