Female showcase athletes with Mr. T.B. Tebo, Dr. Bob Olukoya and other officials at Ilaji International Sports Resort, Akanran, Ibadan.
The High-Performance Centre and Sports Leadership Hub (HPC/SLH) of the Sports University of Nigeria (SUN), Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State, Nigeria recently hosted T. B. Tebo, African representative of the USA-based International Sports Scholars (ISS).
This is in furtherance of the institution’s shared objective of providing high-quality education for young sporting talents across Africa and opening them up to opportunities. Tebo was hosted from September 17 to 21, 2024.
During the visit, Mr Tebo was taken on a tour of the main campus of the Sports University of Nigeria at Idumuje-Ugboko, by Dr Bob Olukoya, coordinator of HPC/SLH, who was accompanied by Lead Talent Assessor, coach Aina James; Media and Vocational Training lead, Mr. Okocha E. Maduabunachukwu; Head of Logistics, Mr. Kolawole Oyekunle; and a host of other associates.
The visit to the main campus was preceded by a short stop-over at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta State, where the 2024 National Youth Games (NYG) was ongoing then. ManyHPC/SLH athletes participated at the NYG.
The next stop for Tebo was the Ilaji International Sports Resort & Hotels, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Miss Ugochi Onyewuenyi, HPC/SLH’s Country Manager, and Mr. Gboyega Makinde, Chief Talent Assessor, were on hand to receive the team. A tour of the facilities was followed by a short interaction with Chief J. D. Sanusi, proprietor of the resort. Thereafter, selected female footballers, flag footballers, and taekwondo fighters demonstrated their skills to the delight of Tebo at the main bowl of the Ilaji Sports Resort.
As a parting gift, International Sports Scholars revealed their interest in taking Princess Yina Addo of the Nigerian U-20 Women’s football team the Falconets to the United States as a fully funded student-athlete. The HPC/SLH accepted the kind offer with thanks and swiftly facilitated the meeting as evaluation is ongoing.
