Suarez statue vandalised

A statue of Barcelona forward Luis Suarez in his native Uruguay has been vandalised.

Local media reports that the person responsable has already been arrested.

The statue has been in place for 12 months and is located on one of the busiest streets in the City of Salto.

The statue of Suarez was knocked to the ground.

However, on Saturday it was knocked from its perch as Suarez was attending Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi’s wedding. It is believed the cul`prit may have been under the influence of alcohol.

The statue has since been taken away for repair, with a sign reading “I went to Messi’s wedding, I’ll be back soon.”

Many have called Messi’s wedding one of the events of the year, so it is nice that both Suarez and his statue could be there to enjoy it.
