Sunshine Stars are outsiders for continental slot, says Adedipe

The Sunshine Stars midfielder insists there is a slim but realistic chance of clinching a continental slot

The NPFL match day 38 tie in Bauchi between Wikki Tourist and Sunshine Stars could produce a team for a Caf Confederation Cup ticket but not without permutation.

Both teams, Wikki Tourist and Sunshine Stars sit fourth and fifth respectively and a win for either of the two teams considering results from close rivals, Rivers United and FC Ifeanyi Ubah could earn them a desired continental dream.

However, Owena Waves midfielder Adedipe Samson has affirmed that his team would do everything possible to come out victorious.

“We are hopeful that we shall pick a desired result in Bauchi on Sunday. We are outsiders with a slim but realistic chance. A win for Sunshine Stars could be the game changer,” the defender told Goal.

“We have a good goals difference but three points added to what we have means that we shall finish third on the table if FC Ifeanyi Ubah who are playing against MFM FC lose in Lagos and same thing happens to Rivers United in Uyo against Akwa United.”

“Though it is a slim chance but we willing and confident to maximise this slim opportunity, we aren’t just giving up. We shall put in our best and leave the rest to God to grant us our heart desire.”

Sunshine Stars have participated once in both the Caf Confederation Cup and Champions League in 2011 and 2012.
