Super Falcons defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, has signed a new two-year contract with Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al-Ittihad Ladies, extending her stay at the club until 2028.
The Nigeria international committed her future to the club after an impressive spell since joining on a free transfer in September 2023 following the expiration of her contract with English side Leicester City.
Plumptre has made 41 appearances for Al-Ittihad, scoring 15 goals and providing 19 assists, establishing herself as one of the club’s key players.
The 28-year-old is currently recovering from a foot injury that has kept her out of action since March.
To aid her long-term rehabilitation, Plumptre was left out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Despite missing the tournament, the versatile defender remains an important figure for the Super Falcons. She was part of the Nigeria squad that won a record-extending 10th WAFCON title at the 2024 finals.
Plumptre, who switched international allegiance from England to Nigeria in 2021, has become a regular member of the Super Falcons and has represented the nine-time African champions at major international tournaments, including the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
