Nigeria’s Taye Taiwo has joined Switzerland’s FC Lausanne-Sport from HJK Helsinki.
Despite an impressive season with the Finnish side last term, the left-footed defender took his decision to move. There, he would be hoping to help Fabio Celestini’s men strengthen their backline.
Les Blanc announced Taiwo’s arrival on their website after the former Queens Park Rangers man passed his medical.
‘’FC Lausanne-Sport is proud to announce the arrival of a defensive reinforcement of weight in the person of Taye Taiwo, who spent his medical visit today,’’ the statement read.
‘’This powerful defender of 31 years will reinforce the team until the end of the season 2016/2017, coming from the club of HJK Helsinki.
‘’Before his visit to Finland, the former Nigerian international has spent much of his career with Olympique de Marseille, the team with which he won the French Championship in 2010, before leaving for AC Milan in 2011.’’
Taiwo is expected to make his debut for the team when they welcome Luzern to the Olympique de la Pontaise on February 5.
FC Lausanne-Sport are placed seventh in the Swiss Super League with 18 points from same number of matches.
The former Lobi Stars defender had stints with Olympique Marseille, AC Milan, Queens Park Rangers, Dinamo Kiev and Bursaspor.
