Title race not all over for Spurs ―Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen is unconcerned by Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester United and feels they still have everything to play for this season.

Sunday’s 1-0 reverse at Wembley seems to have ended their hopes of winning the Premier League title, with table-topping Liverpool nine points ahead.

Manchester City are just two points better off but can stretch their advantage over Spurs and move closer to the Reds by beating Wolves on Monday night.

There was disappointment in north London after the weekend’s result but Jan Vertonghen is refusing to be downbeat about the situation.

“We are in four competitions and we have got the quality to compete in every single game and every single competition,” said the Belgium defender. “Hopefully we can do something special this season.”

And the 31-year-old believes there is no need to panic as the performance in defeat to the Red Devils proves the talent in the Spurs’ ranks.

“We don’t need to regroup, everyone saw how good we were against Manchester United,” he added. “They’re doing well but we showed our quality against theirs and we’re still up there. They won, respect to them but I still think we’re one of the strongest teams in the league.”

Punters looking to use a free bet might fancy Spurs to finish in the top three and they are next in league action at home to Watford on January 30.
