
Nigeria continued her dominance in Paralifting of the ongoing Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games when she created new Paralympics and world records respectively.
Oluwfemiayo Folashade who set the world record in 86kg at the Manchester Paralympic Games,in March broke her own record with a lift of 152kg to set a new one and also created a new Paralympics record.
Folashade broke the Paralympics records three times with 147 kg in her first attempt, 149 kg and 150 kg in second and third attempt respectively before stamping her feat with 152 kg lift to break her world record of 150.5 with 152 kg lift.
China’s Zheng Feifei stopped at 139k to pick silver while Great Britain’s Sudgen Louise won the bronze medal with a lift of 131 kg.

Speaking with Spotingtribune after the medal presentation, the 37 years mother of two who expressed appreciation to the Minister for Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare for the early camping and well organised welfare package disclosed that the COVID 19 lockdown boosted her chances in a way.
According to her, “Let me first and foremost thank the minister for the early camping exercise he approved for us and the camping was fantastic, I will also say that the lockdown helped a lot because it afforded me the opportunity to train more harder, though it was not an easy thing when didn’t train as one is expected, but I resulted to using local weight which I have at home and with determination to excel, I remain focused but above all, I give God Almighty the glory for crowning my efforts with success,” she said.
She however called on the federal government to treat them very well and fulfill all the promises made to them before the games.

“Well, my message to our government (President) is that we should be treated very well. We are here to make the country proud and have done so,it is their turn to fulfill the promises made to us but I have absolute trust in the Minister because he has demonstrated his love for us before and during the games.”
She however assured that she will remain determined and focused ahead of future international championships.
