Tokyo Paralympics: Team Nigeria fully prepared -Anaku

With a few hours to the official commencement of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Engineer Nebeolisa Anaku, has said that Team Nigeria are well prepared for the Games.

Speaking with Sportingtribune at the Seouls International Airport, South Korea, Anako informed that the paralympians were camped for two months before the Games.

“In fact, they have been training in Kisarazu in the last two weeks where they will move to the Olympics Games village anytime from now.

“As we speak, I can say categorically that the athletes are well-prepared for the Games and I hope that they would bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians with their results at the Games,” Anako said.

Also, President, Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Ruel Ishaku, while speaking with Tribunesport said that he was optimistic of brilliant performance by Team Nigeria at the Games.

“We have enough training both in camp in Nigeria and the current camp in Japan. Aside this, the ministry has created a conducive atmosphere ahead of the Games, and the athletes are in high spirits to excel at the Games,” Ishaku said.

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Olaitan, a 67k powerlifter expressed her readiness to retain the gold in her category.

“I am ready for the Games, apart from our normal training, I also engaged in personal training so that I won’t disappoint. I’m not going for anything short of gold medal. I won gold medal at the last Games and I will do everything humanly possible to retain my gold at Tokyo 2020 Games,” Olaitan told Sportingtribune.
