Football has evolved into a multi-billion-dollar industry, and sponsorship remains one of the biggest revenue streams for clubs worldwide.

In Africa, the commercial side of the game has witnessed significant growth, with top clubs attracting lucrative partnerships from telecommunications firms, sportswear manufacturers, financial institutions, and multinational corporations.

These sponsorship deals not only boost club finances but also enhance brand visibility, improve infrastructure, support player recruitment, and strengthen youth development programs.

Al Ahly SC – Telecom Egypt and Adidas

Adidas is Al Ahly’s official kit supplier. The club Extends Adidas Partnership Through 2030, ensuring the sportswear giant continues to manufacture and design the team’s apparel Al Ahly Locks Adidas Deal in Long-Term Extension.

The Egyptian giants have secured several high-value sponsorship agreements over the years, with Telecom Egypt and Adidas among their most prominent partners. 

Kaizer Chiefs – Vodacom

Kaizer Chiefs boast one of the strongest football brands in Africa, with Vodacom as the primary, long-standing sponsor and partner of the club.

The South African giants have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with telecommunications giant Vodacom, alongside major kit partnerships with Nike.

These deals have helped the club maintain a strong commercial presence both within South Africa and across the continent.

The club’s ability to consistently attract large crowds and television audiences makes it a valuable marketing platform for corporate partners.

Orlando Pirates – Vodacom and Adidas

Orlando Pirates rank among Africa’s most commercially successful football institutions.

Their sponsorship agreements with Vodacom and Adidas have been central to the club’s revenue generation. The Buccaneers’ rich history, loyal supporters, and participation in major competitions continue to attract corporate investment.

The popularity of the Soweto Derby also provides sponsors with enormous exposure, making Orlando Pirates one of the continent’s most marketable clubs.

Zamalek SC – Nike

Zamalek’s strong fan engagement and competitive success have enabled the club to secure major sponsorship agreements. More recently, the club announced a 3-season kit sponsorship deal with global brand, Nike.

The Cairo-based side has partnered with leading sports and media companies while maintaining relationships with global sportswear brands. Their commercial strength is amplified by one of the fiercest rivalries in world football—the Cairo Derby against Al Ahly.

Wydad AC – Ingelec

Wydad AC have become one of North Africa’s most commercially attractive clubs with Ingelec, the Moroccan electrical company, as the official, primary shirt sponsor of the club. 

The club also has Italian sportswear brand Kappa as the official kit manufacturer for Wydad AC.
