Tornadoes name squad for new NPFL season

NIGER Tornadoes technical adviser, Abubakar Bala has described as winning squad the 35-man list named for the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season scheduled to begin on January 14.

The Minna-based side named 35-man list on Monday to prosecute the side’s campaign in the upcoming Nigeria top-flight due to kickoff on Sunday, January 15.

Bala said his side are almost 80 per cent prepared for football hostilities in the upcoming Nigerian top-flight.

“Of course, the 35-man list for the NPFL will deliver the goods at the appointed time.

“I’m satisfied with the crop of players we were able to assemble for the upcoming Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

“The 35-man list is a product of painstaking screening exercises that cut across every nook and cranny of the country.

“The players are from the NPFL, Nigeria National League (NNL), Nigeria Nationwide League, academies, among others.

“We have been able to replace some quality players we lost to other teams in the off season.

“The players’ responses to the team and playing character we are putting in place for the season are quite impressive.

“So far so good, I can comfortably say I’m 85 per cent confident the 35-man list will take us successfully to the height we set for ourselves in the coming season,” the former FC Lokoja coach told supersport.com.

The Minna outfit resumed camp after the yuletide break on Monday for the final phase preparation for the top-flight.

Tornadoes will be the guests of Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC in NPFL matchday 1 clash at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos billed for January 15.
