Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose signs new long-term contract

Danny Rose has agreed a new five-year deal with Tottenham Hotspur that ties him to the club until 2021.

“Everyone knows that the club is going in the right direction and I’m over the moon that I’ll stay here until I’m an old man,” Rose said.

Rose, 26, is the sixth player in a fortnight to sign a new contract, after similar deals for Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Dele Alli, Harry Winks and Tom Carroll.

Tottenham are staggering the announcements and Kyle Walker will be next, with Erik Lamela and Jan Vertonghen also close to agreeing new terms.

The left-back made his Premier League debut later that season and memorably scored a stunning volley in a 2-1 win over Arsenal — a result that helped Spurs into the Champions League for the first time.

After considering declaring his international allegiance to Jamaica, Rose earned his first senior England cap against Germany in March and he was the Three Lions’ first-choice left-back at Euro 2016.

Rose recently said he hoped to end his career at Tottenham, telling the club’s official website: “I’m 26 now and starting to think about if I want to finish my career here and I’d love to do that. I’d love to be able to look back at the end of my career and think I’d been at a club for the whole of my career.”
