So, from the start of next season, the schedule of the Champions League will change. UEFA have confirmed that there will be no more 20:45 kick-offs (or 19:45 if you’re on GMT).
Back in December 2016 there was a meeting for the UEFA Executive Committee in which they agreed on various decisions, and one of them was to change the schedule of matches.
This change will come into place from the start of the next campaign. The matches will now be played at two different times: two games will start at 19:00 (18:00 GMT), while the six remaining games will kick-off at 21:00 (20:00 GMT).
With this new schedule, fans will be able to follow more games, which means a lot of people will surely be in favour of the decision. Although new decisions like this aren’t always met with positive reactions…
Another change is to do with a new opportunity for league-winning sides who are eliminated during the Champions League qualifiers. These teams will will be given another chance to play in a European competition.
