Asoju-Oba table tennis participant
Players and officials of Union Bank Table Tennis Club have applauded the Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas famiky for their continuous sponsorship of the Asoju-Oba Table tennis Cup after the demise of the sports philanthropist.
Bose Odusanya, who outwitted her Union Bank teammate, Alimat Ayila in the final of the women’s singles inside the Chief Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, said she is eternally grateful.
“We’re extremely grateful to the Molade Okoya-Thomas Family because his tournament is helping us to develop our talent. As for me and my colleagues at Union Bank, we enjoy featuring in Asoju-Oba Cup because it helps in moulding champions,” said Odusanya, who is one of Union Bank’s seven national team stars.
Union Bank’s chief coach, Samson Ajayi in his remarks highlighted the gains of participation in the annual Asoju-Oba tourney
“It would interest you that Union Bank discovered the great Aruna Quadri from the Asoju-Oba Cup and other national tournaments. We’re apparently searching for another Quadri.
“Beside the finalists Odusanyan and Alimat, it was fantastic seeing our players, Hassan Nurudeen, Azeez Sholanke, Adeyinka Ahmed and Kazeem Munsuru playing the men’s double final. It was regrettable that Rilwan Akanni lost the men’s singles crown after losing to another of our player, Kazeem Monsuru in the quarter final. We’ll keep shinning,” Ajayi said.
