Ernesto Valverde says he has been pleased with his side’s results during his maiden campaign in charge at Barcelona.
The 54-year-old, a former Barca striker, returned to the Nou Camp last summer following an impressive spell at Athletic Bilbao but got off to a tough start as the club sold Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain.
Things got worse when they were outclassed 5-1 over two legs of the Super Cup by Real Madrid but they soon found their feet and have subsequently wrapped up both La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Additionally, Barcelona managed to avoid defeat in the league until last weekend at Levante but for all the positives, there have been low points, most notably the shock Champions League quarter-final exit to Roma.
Ahead of Sunday’s final game of the campaign against Real Sociedad, the coach admitted he has been pleased with their efforts, although he concedes they must learn from their mistakes.
Valverde said: ‘A mark for the season? A high one because it’s been long and hard, plus there’s been a bit of everything.
‘There were times when we did well, but we lost a game in each competition. The one that did a lot of damage came in Rome, and that caused some instability.
‘Still, we learned from it and got back up to win two trophies. It’s been an excellent season, especially because of how it started.
‘All of us want to win everything here, but we must also learn from the mistakes we made.’
