Fans of the Morocco national men’s football team celebrated after CAF stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and declared Morocco champions.
Supporters of the Atlas Lions were seen tooting car horns, waving the Moroccan flag and cheering the decision in different locations.
The celebrations followed the announcement of the ruling by CAF’s Appeals Board.
Senegal captain Sadio Mane reacted to the decision, stating that “The world knows the true champions”.
Senegal had beaten Morocco 1-0 in the final in extra time before the result was overturned.

The final, played in Rabat, had been affected by incidents before the end of regulation time. Senegal players walked off the pitch in protest after a penalty decision by referee Jean-Jacques Ndala.
CAF’s Appeals Board ruled that the action breached Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations. The decision led to the forfeiture of the match by Senegal.
CAF subsequently awarded the match 3-0 in favour of Morocco, confirming the North African side as champions of the 2025 AFCON.
General Secretary of the Senegalese Football Federation, Abdoulaye Sow, said the federation would appeal the ruling at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
