W’Cup qualifiers: We need unity to beat Rwanda —Iwobi

Fulham star, Alex Iwobi, has clamoured for unity, especially in the camp of the Super Eagles ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda in Uyo.

“My message will be to continue supporting us. As players, we believe. So if you guys can believe in us as well and give us the energy that we need to go and get the result that we want to achieve to go to the World Cup,” Iwobi told the Super Eagles media team.

The former Arsenal star stated that he and his teammates are in high spirits ahead of the crucial game billed for the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

“The mood is good. Everyone’s feeling good and optimistic.

“So we’re excited to play our first game against Rwanda. Hopefully, we can prepare well and, as I said, get the result we want.

“Everyone is excited to prove a point, not just to Nigerians but to ourselves, that we can achieve our goal of going to the World Cup.

“So we are hungry and know our goals and targets, and we are ready to fight for the country,” Iwobi added.

On his part, Bright Osayi-Samuel said the Super Eagles are battle-ready for the clash with Rwanda.

“Very important, possibly one of our most important games in the national team.

“We know how difficult it can be, but I have full belief in our squad and our coach and I ultimately believe that we got there,” the former Fenerbahce defender who joined Championship side Birmingham City this summer said.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest defender, Ola Aina, said: “We know it’s a tough task ahead of us, but we’re ready for the challenge and we’re looking forward to it at the end of the day.

“So, it’s another two games of football and we’re going to try our best and we’re looking forward to it. So keep believing and supporting.
